19. 10. 2019

Designblok announced the best authors and projects of its 21styear. Who will be the main winner?

On Saturday, 19 October 2019, Designblok awarded the best projects and authors of its 21styear. It selected the winners of 11 categories and acknowledged the best product novelties, lighting objects, furniture, home accessories as well as the best fashion and jewellery collections. The winners are: Herrmann & Coufal, the Dechem studio, Jiří Krejčiřík, Želé, Tititi, the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, Tereza Rosalie Kladošová and the Czech brands TON, M & T Manufacture, Hideandseek and Javorina. The main award will be announced during the Designblok closing ceremony on Monday, 21 October 2019.

The Javorina brand won in the category Best Furniture Collection for the chair Lopa and Tuba by the Vrtiška & Žák studio and for the XX collection of tables by Lucie Koldová. The Dechem studio excelled in the category Best Collection of Lights for its products Stratos and Kono. The best collections of home accessories became the wooden objects by the Tititi brand, and the Best Designer’s Novelty is the furniture collection Eclecticism by Jiří Krejčiřík.

New names appeared in the category Best Jewellery Collection, in which the jury acknowledged the Želé brand, while the award the Best Exhibited Fashion Collection repeatedly went to the 2018 Grand Designer, Terezie Rosalie Kladošová, for her new models from the Merino Recycle collection. The jury also highly acknowledged the minimalist mobile units by Hideandseek, which received the award for the Excellent Feat.

The fixed star in the category Best Producer’s/Seller’s Installation is the TON brand, which was this year awarded for its Velvet Revolution installation, again designed by Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus. From among the designers and studios, which most attracted the jury’s attention, was the elaborated and smart installation by Herrmann & Coufal, where visitors could make their own coatrack. The award for the best school installation went to the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague for the project Studiolo Robotico R. U. R., which had already enjoyed success at the Design Week in Milan.

“I am happy for the several new names that appeared among the winners this year. For instance, the Tititi brand with their beautiful wooden objects, the jewellery brand Želé and the Hideandseek project of a mobile home proving, that quality design and considerate approach to Nature can go hand in hand. The author who significantly attracted attention at this year’s Designblok was the young Czech designer, Jiří Krejčiřík, especially by his precisely hand-made tables, Kalokagathia and Odyssea. He not only won the award but also the hearts of leading foreign gallery owners, and we can thus soon expect a rocket start in his career. Lucie Koldová as well the designer’s duo Vrtiška Žák scored in several categories at once. The shared aspect of all these designers is their work for the Javorina brand, which presented a masterful furniture collection,” Jana Zielinski, the Designblok director, explained.

However, this is not all the Designblok awards yet! There moreover is the Main Award for the absolute winner, which will be announced during the closing ceremony on the last day of the festival, on Monday, 21 October 2019.
