The project speculates on the possibilities of mimic textiles demonstrated on the object of the basket and plays out a spatial and visual illusion. The speculative character allows to explore the limits of the properties of jacquard textiles: the spatiality created directly on the jacquard machine using custom multi-layered bindings and effect yarns as well as the surface illusion of space thanks gradienting. An archive exploring the simple interweaving of horizontal and vertical lines, surface and space, or the double illusion as a response to the agency of the everyday object was created. The project was developed in collaboration with the FTI-lab in Ghent and the Textiel lab in Tilburg.
